As with most things in life, OASIS comes with its own set of rules and regulations! I'll try to make these as bearable as possible, but just please remember that's it's very important to take the following instructions seriously and abide by them at all times. If you breach the rules, the staff team will take whatever action they deem necessary for the occasion. Thank you!
To quote section "18. OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT" from ProBoards' Terms of Service, posts that: contain "libelous, defamatory, abusive, threatening, excessively violent, harassing, obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy or pornographic" content; "constitute child pornography"; "solicit personal information from or exploit in a sexual or violent manner anyone under the age of 18"; "incite, encourage or threaten physical harm against another"; "promote or glorify racial intolerance, use hate and/or racist terms, or signify hate towards any person or group of people"; "glamorize the use of hard core illegal substances and drugs"; "advertise or otherwise solicit funds or constitute a solicitation for goods or services"; "violate any provision of this ToS agreement or any other ProBoards agreement or policy, including without limitation ProBoards' Community Guidelines"; or are "generally offensive or in bad taste, as determined by ProBoards" are not permitted under any circumstances. Any comments of this nature - on the boards, in the cbox, in-character, out-of-character etc. - will be removed immediately and necessary action will be taken.
Remember that all members and staff on here are people - ranging widely in ages, experience, backgrounds and feelings/reactions to certain topics. Therefore, please keep swears to a minimum, to avoid offence; be aware of how others around you feel, maintain respect for and include one another; never bully and/or condone, even if you believe it to be a joke; and finally, don't harass members about posts, too. It's just a fact that real life stuff will intervene a lot - try posting with another member to bide the time!
There is no 'word count' for the site. We encourage both short, sweet and to-the-point rapid-fire/post volleying-style posts as well as the more detailed, descriptive type. The main aim of this game is to have fun and write however much you feel like at the time, rather than constantly feeling the need to keep to a rule regarding words. All we ask is that you try your very best to return a post of a similar length to your role-playing partner's when replying, just out of courtesy. Don't worry if you really can't, though, I'm sure they will understand!
Once you've joined, please please try to be as active as humanly possible. We all know that the more active a role-play game is, the better it gets. So be sure to keep yourself and all your characters (of which you may have as many as you can handle) afloat during your time here. If you need to take a break for any reason, please post in the Absence Board with details regarding when you will return, etc.
Until your character's registration form is 'accepted' (their mini-profile is updated and their registration form is moved from the submission sub-board into the correct registration record sub-board), you may only post in the out-of-character cbox or "out-of-character socialisation" - and in "the vitals / your suggestions / advertising boards" if needs be. Only once you've been accepted may you begin to officially claim a face / plot / socialise in-character, including the in-character cbox / role-playing.
As I mentioned before, you can have as many charries as you'd like - providing you keep them all active with role-playing threads. You must make a new account for every character you make. The username of the account should be individual and exclusive to your character - for example, "lucasoakleyshaw" and "reedoakleyshaw". This is so that the chances of reusing the old username of a deleted character are slim to none, so you won't encounter that annoying scenario where you adopt someone else's post history. Also, the account's Display Name should be the character's full name (in lower case) - middle name and/or "nickname" (with quotes surrounding it) included, if they have either - e.g. lucas "luc" grant oakley-shaw and reed mason oakley-shaw.
Keep images very clean (no images of your character's play-by in their lingerie or whatever, because that's definitely not acceptable) and under 500px in width. If either of these conditions are ignored, we'll just delete the image(s). So keep it nice, as well as neat, with pics as well as posts.
No power-playing (giving no choice in a matter to the character/member that you are role-playing with) without permission. Similarly, no god-modding - ever. No character is invincible, thank you~
Final rule! No spamming. Especially in the cbox - use all the characters you can to create one message, rather than loads of one-word trollop that clogs it all up. And please minimise your use of chat speak/overuse of Caps Lock/keyboard bashing - it's okay in moderation, but after a while, it gets a bit fbhdjsgauyre.
