creative writing: benji has a talent in writing, much like his adoptive mother. he excels in poetry. writing is cathartic to him, and he's always been praised for the works that he's shown to people. benji is working on a series of love poems for a girl to give to her to show his affection, and he's kind of (read: extremely) nervous about how that will go.

french: he likes the way the language slides off of his tongue and how different it sounds. he likes french almost as much as english (almost).

american literature: reading is one of benji's favorite things. he always held a book as a child, even when pip was dragging him about. reading created an entire new world for benji, and he's remarkably good at recommending books for others. it fuels his imagination and his urge to write. he reads very fast and has a large variety of books that he likes.

world history: benji likes knowing how the world works and why, and history always held a certain appeal. he loved learning about the history of europe, italy especially.

world literature: in order to be a successful poet, he has to read the writings of others. he can draw inspiration from that, as well.

"he's so quiet! i don't get why he's so quiet. there's nothing wrong with it, but he almost never talks. benji's always been the shy one. he's super-talented in writing, but no one would ever guess it because he never shows anyone any of his work. he always is surprised whenever anyone compliments him or tells him that he did something right. i think benji needs people to reassure him. he'd never admit it, though. not even out of pride, he just doesn't want to talk to people or intrude or something. he's like the awkward recluse of the family, he's always sitting there reading. he hates being a nuisance and being the center of attention, too. he gets nervous. it's cute, but he needs to take a breather, sometimes! benji's stubborn, though, in a passive-aggressive way. he won't let you know directly if he's angry, but god, you can tell if you look."
